Continued Dangers of Oral Flea/Tick/Heartworm Medications

Tick

It’s shocking to realize that it’s been so long since we posted about the danger of using Bravecto flea and tick medicine on pets (that post is available by CLICKING HERE).  But given the number of people who don’t know or fully understand how serious it is, we wanted to share an email newsletter from Dr. Judy Morgan, DVM, CVA, CCP, CVFT that provides a great deal of information about this continued problem, including the link to additional popular brands using the isoxazoline class of products, including Bravecto, Bravecto Plus, Nexgard, Simparica, Simparica Trio, Credelio, and Revolution Plus.

Dr. Judy’s article lists neurological side effects or adverse reactions that range from barely noticeable to sever, and include:
• Aggression
• Personality changes
• Seizures
• Disorientation
• Wobbling or unstable gate
• Sensitivity to touch
• Abnormal vocalizations
• Urinary or fecal incontinence
• Death
• Liver failure
• Kidney failure
• Dry eye
• Clotting disorders
• Internal hemorrhage
• Skin disease and itching
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Inappetence
• Drooling
